This marks the second LFA event at the venue in 2025, following the electric LFA 199, where Brazilian featherweight Erick Visconde (15-3) delivered one of the most talked-about finishes of the year.
Visconde made a global statement in January when he knocked out BJJ world champion Ary Farias with a spectacular spinning elbow in the main event of LFA 199. Now, he returns to defend his turf in the same cage against Chris Mecate (11-2), a Californian on a red-hot six-fight winning streak, including back-to-back wins under the LFA banner. Mecate is no stranger to fighting at home, his grit and durability have made him a fan favorite in the Golden State.
The co-main event features the return of Jacob Rosales (16-9), a seasoned lightweight and longtime staple of the Southern California MMA scene. He shares the night with his wife Alandria Rosales (3-3), a fellow LFA veteran making her return in a bout featured earlier in the evening. Jacob will face his toughest test yet in Chris Gonzalez (8-3), a dangerous Bellator veteran and Urijah Faber protégé representing Team Alpha Male.
LFA 213: Mecate vs. Visconde, takes place Friday, July 26th at Tachi Palace Casino Resort, located just 35 minutes south of Fresno, California.
“We’re proud to be back at Tachi Palace after an unforgettable start to the year,” stated Soares. “Visconde’s knockout is still echoing around the MMA world, and now he returns to headline again—this time against a very dangerous opponent in Mecate. With Gonzalez vs. Rosales in the co-main and Alandria also fighting, this is one of our most personal and high-stakes cards of the year.”
Mecate (11-2) is one of the greatest California natives to successfully transition from wrestling to MMA. Mecate won the California State Wrestling Championship as a senior at Redlands East Valley High School in Redlands, California before placing third at Nationals the same year. He graduated with a 156-17 record and was later named the “Wrestler of the Year” by the San Bernardino County Sun newspaper. Mecate then became one of the most highly-touted wrestling prospects in the country and took his talents to the east coast where he became a two-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia. Mecate finished his college career with a 115-37 record, was a four-time NCAA Division I tournament qualifier, and became ODU’s thirteenth 100-match winner. In MMA, Mecate has joined forces with UFC Hall of Famer Cub Swanson and the results have been undeniable. He now looks to win his second straight headliner for the promotion at LFA 213.
Visconde (15-3) also jumped at the opportunity to win his second straight main event for the LFA in 2025. The charismatic Brazilian has endeared himself to fight fans by becoming just one of twenty-one fighters in LFA history to fight for the promotion on two continents. His most recent opponent Ary Farias was the first fighter to accomplish this feat, but Visconde dispatched his intercontinental rival with a jaw-dropping spinning elbow in the LFA 199 headliner. The knockout happened in the LFA’s first trip to Tachi Palace and is a frontrunner to win “Knockout of the Year”. Moreover, it set up an inevitable showdown between promotional mainstays of the highest order, as well as a style clash as old as MMA itself, as Mecate’s wrestling accolades will be paired with Visconde’s jiu-jitsu black belt. Both men also mix it up on the feet and possess one-shot knockout power, which creates the perfect recipe for the LFA’s return to Central California as both men continue to ascend the ultra tough featherweight ladder.
